After the release of their horror adventure title Caput Mortum last month, publisher Black Lantern Collective is keeping things going with developer Rocket Adrift’s Dead Finger Dice: The Billionaire Killing Game. This horrific roguelike take on poker arrives on Steam on October 24, but you can check out the demo that’s available right now.
Dead Finger Dice sees you trapped aboard a yacht in an underground tournament for which you never signed up, forcing you to try your luck with five dice, three painful rerolls, all in an attempt to gain the highest poker hand that you can. If you lose a match, then you’ll lose a life, get thrown overboard and replaced by a new unfortunate soul. But win, and you can claim your opponent’s materials, charms, curses and maybe even a finger or two.
Use your winnings to craft custom dice, hide your best loot in your secret compartment under your cell for the next run… then do it all again. Death is permanent, and the body count will continue to rise. You’ll be facing off again five different bosses, each one commanding their yacht floor, and each with their own twisted rules, cruel modifiers, and greedy ambitions.
“Every billionaire is a monster in disguise, so we just skipped the disguise,” explains Rocket Adrift’s Titus McNally. “Dead Finger Dice lets players do what we all dream about, by taking their wealth and their power one roll at a time.”
Roll, reroll, bluff and build, because the difference between a pair and a royal flush can mean you live, or you end up in the ocean. Fingers and materials earned in matches aren’t just for show, as they let you curse your dice, charm your dice with forbidden tweaks, and even hide treasures for your next run.
