Ahead of a planned 2026 broadcast, the Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You anime today released a new video announcing the casting of Takuya Sato (Rick in The Ossan Newbie Adventurer ) as Sasaki, a disillusioned office worker, and Seena Hoshiki as Yamada, a supermarket employee with two identities. Square Enix also publishes the series in English and describes the story: At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can't find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her.
