The official website for the GATE TV anime revealed a first teaser visual for the upcoming new series, GATE 2: Tides of Conflict . The visual introduces the two main characters of the new series — Hajime Tokushima, a Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force officer, and Princess Primera Luna Avion. Teaser Visual RELATED: GATE TV Anime Announces Second Season in Production The first TV anime series based on the GATE fantasy novel series created by Takumi Yanai (story), alongside Daisuke Izuka and Kurojishi (illustration) aired for 24 episodes from July 2015 to March 2016. GATE 2: Tides of Conflict is based on the novel's sequel series, GATE Season 2: Jieitai Kano Umi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri ("Thus the Japanese Self-Defense Force Fought in Their Sea"), and will be produced to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the GATE anime franchise. A release date has not been announced at the time of reporting. Toru Takahashi ( Inari Kon Kon ) direct the anime at Studio M2. The first series' Tatsuhiko Urahata continues to provide the series composition and scripts, with Shigeru Fujita working on the character designs. The digital platform Oshi describes GATE 2: Tides of Conflict as such: Years after the Gate to another world first opened in Tokyo, Japan now manages the passage under strict control. The JSDF explores the Special Region while the JMSDF sails its seas. Petty Officer Hajime Tokushima, once a chef, now finds himself aboard the submarine Kitashio under Captain Edajima. Their mission: infiltrate Tinae and rescue an abducted journalist. Along the way, they join forces with Princess Primera, the pirate heir Shura no Arch, and the mystical Ship Guardian, Odette Ze Nebula. Together, they face raging wars, pirate fleets, and monstrous sea creatures—testing their resolve as they fight to complete their mission.
