‘s.p.l.i.t’ Dev Teams With Oro Interactive to Expand The Game’s Audience

After launching his immersive psychological horror title s.p.l.i.t on Steam earlier this year, solo dev Mike Klubnika has teamed up with publisher Oro Interactive to bring the game to a wider audience. What that means hasn’t been made clear, though from the sounds of things, and because Klubnika brought his previous title in Buckshot Roulette to consoles after that game was released on Steam, there’s a good chance that’s what this entails.

For those who need a refresher (and didn’t get a chance to check out Aaron’s article), s.p.l.i.t. is a short psychological horror experience where players attempt to gain root access via a computer terminal into an unethical technological superstructure.

With a focus on immersive and tactile raw terminal hacking, players will use various command line inputs to interface with the facility with the game’s diegetic and immersive UI. In addition, an in-game IRC programme allows them to chat with fellow technicians in order to plan and execute a devastating malware attack.

On top of featuring a dystopian, low-fi tech visual identity and industrial audio design, s.p.l.i.t combines that with its unsettling, psychological narrative and cerebral puzzles. The result is an “intensely atmospheric, slow-burn experience.”

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting on Buckshot Roulette to head to the Xbox Series later this year. You can also find it on Steam.
