Following preview screenings last week, the first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle anime film opened in full on Friday and went on to break anime records and top the box office in the United States. In addition to hitting first place — landing in the number one spot ahead of The Conjuring: Last Rites , Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale and The Long Walk — the film marked the highest-grossing debut for an anime film in the United States, passing Pokémon: The First Movie 's $31 million USD opening weekend in 1999 . According to Sony Pictures Entertainment, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle closed its opening weekend with a projected $70 million USD gross. Domestically, that includes $33 million on Friday, $21.6 million on Saturday and a projected $15.4 million on Sunday across 3,315 locations. In addition to being the biggest opening weekend for an anime film at the domestic box office, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is also now the highest-grossing animated film in 2025 domestically and sports the best opening for an animated title in the month of September. The film also made a splash in Latin America with a $29 million opening. Europe added another $17.4 million, the Middle East added $6 million and India added $5.2 million, making for the country’s biggest opening weekend for an animated/anime film. For record-breaking regional highlights, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle took the title of the top anime opening of all time in Mexico ($9.8M), Brazil ($4.4M), Peru ($2.8M), Central America ($2.4M), Argentina ($2.2M) and Chile ($2.2M). It’s now the top anime film ever in the UK ($4.6M), Spain ($3.7M), Italy ($3.0M), Saudi Arabia ($2.8M) and the UAE ($1.4M), and also netted the highest opening for an anime film in Australia ($3.2M).
