Originally scheduled to broadcast in October 2025, the upcoming TV anime based on the fantasy manga The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King announced today that the premiere has been postponed until April 2026 in order to “improve the quality” of the series. Crunchyroll has licensed the series for distribution in worldwide markets outside of Japan and China. You can see an earlier trailer below. RELATED: The Barbarian's Bride Anime Releases Main Trailer Since January 2021, Kodansha has serialized the original The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King manga by Noriaki Kotoba in their Bessatsu Shonen Magazine publication, and to date nine collected volumes have been published in Japan. Takayuki Tanaka directs the TV anime at animation studio Jumondou, with Miya Asakawa on series composition and Alisa Okehazama on music. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes an English language version of the manga under the title The Barbarian's Bride , and describes the story: Serafina de Lavillant, the strongest female knight in the West, was sent to subjugate the barbaric tribes of the East. But when her mission fails spectacularly, she’s captured alive and imprisoned. Humiliated and dreading what horrific torture she’ll endure, she asks to be put to death. To her surprise, rather than tearing her limb from limb, the tribe leader asks for her hand…in marriage! Will Serafina face a cruel and abusive arranged marriage?
