Developer 1ncors has something for fans of Survival Horror and the allure of throwback PS1 aesthetics in the meaty Inside the Flesh Engine, which is currently in development for a release on Steam, but has a demo available now on itch.io. Combining the wobbly low-poly graphics of the PS1 with some good old fashioned Body Horror weirdness, you explore a living factory, where you either obey or resist, and uncover the secrets of the system that created you.
Inside the Flesh Engine casts you as a nameless being who has been sent for disposal after your “birth” in the aforementioned living factory. There’s no sky and no light. There is only pain and flesh as the metal trembles and groans around you as mechanisms tear tissue.
Becoming a prisoner of someone else’s survival, you serve the creature – you feed it and follow its orders. It feeds on the structure. It feeds on you. Like a parasite, it nests in the depths of the plant that has swallowed the entire planet. But even this creature dwells in the shadow of the true creator who gave birth to this endless industrial hell.
You must find this creator, but in order to do so, you must survive. Depending upon your actions, you’ll arrive at one of the game’s multiple endings.
