Jordan Peele Says ‘HIM’ Is “Like Nothing Else I’ve Ever Seen in My Life”

Director Justin Tipping is the focus of a new HIM featurette, and producer Jordan Peele offers high praise for the up-and-coming filmmaker.

“Justin Tipping is an incredible visionary,” Peele comments in the video below. “His ability to create this unique horror film within the world of professional sports is like nothing else I’ve ever seen in my life.”

The psychological horror film opens in theaters September 19 from Universal.

Rising-star quarterback Cameron Cade has devoted his life, and identity, to football. On the eve of professional football’s annual scouting Combine, Cam is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma.

Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White, a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife. But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for.

Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie) and Tyriq Withers (I Know What You Did Last Summer) star with Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), Tim Heidecker (Us), and Jim Jefferies (“Legit”).

Tipping wrote the script with Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie.
