Back in January 2023, a sequel anime was announced for the Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun TV anime. Now more details are here, including news that the followup will arrive in the form of an anime film series. The first part is currently eyeing a 2026 premiere. Titled Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi ( Awakening Mystery ), the film series has Masayuki Kojima as director once again alongside returning writer Hideyuki Kurata and character designers Kazuchika Kise and Yuka Kuroda. Kinema Citrus is once again on animation production, and the cast also returns from the TV anime. You can see a visual featuring newcomers Tepaste and Cravagli below. Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi Visual In addition to the film series itself, a Film Concert is on the way for Made in Abyss to celebrate the latest development. The event will be held at Tokyo’s Nakano ZERO on February 8, 2026, with music composer Kevin Penkin conducting the orchestra. The cast will also be in attendance, and the concert will include performances by Takeshi Saito and KIHOW (MYTH&ROID).
