Neon Genesis Evangelion Anime Celebrates 30th Anniversary with "Flashback" Album from Yoko Takahashi

Hideaki Anno's Neon Genesis Evangelion premiered 30 years ago, bringing with it one of anime's most iconic theme songs. This year, singer Yoko Takahashi is celebrating the big anniversary with a new album, collecting Eva songs old and new. EVANGELION FLASHBACK will be released on October 29, commemorating three decades of the song across 15 tracks. "Cruel Angel's Thesis" and Death and Rebirth theme song "Soul's Refrain" will be in the mix. The album will also feature a newly recorded cover of "Kyo no hi wa sayonara," a song performed by Ryoko Moriyama in 1967 and covered by Megumi Hayashibara in 2009's Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance . The cover of the album features an original cel from the show's opening credits, provided by the Anime Tokusatsu Archive Center (ATAC). The other tracks from EVANGELION FLASHBACK will be spread across both releases.
