Nancy Nagrant Playing Relative of Original ‘Friday the 13th’ Character in ‘Crystal Lake’

Casting continues on the upcoming Friday the 13th television series “Crystal Lake,” with filming on the project underway as we speak. The series from Peacock and A24 is set to be an expanded prequel to the original slasher classic from 1980, and that’s been reflected by many of the casting announcements that have been hitting our desk in recent weeks.

Callum Vinson is playing a young Jason Voorhees in the series, with Linda Cardellini starring as Mrs. Voorhees. Cameron Scoggins is playing Dorf, also a character from the original Friday the 13th, with Nick Cordileone as “Crazy Ralph,” Danielle Kotch as Claudette, and Phoenix Parnevik as Barry, all characters from that original movie.

The fan website Friday the 13th Franchise additionally reports today that Nancy Nagrant has joined the cast as Kay Christy, a relative of Steve Christy from Friday the 13th (1980)!

Steve Christy was played by Peter Brouwer in Sean Cunningham’s slasher classic, whose parents previously ran Camp Crystal Lake. It’s Steve who attempts to open the camp back up for business in 1980, resulting in the arrival of Mrs. Voorhees on a quest for revenge decades after the drowning death of her son. Mrs. Voorhees ultimately kills Steve Christy in the movie.

The eight-episode series is set to be directed by Michael Lennox (“Derry Girls”), Celine Held & Logan George (Caddo Lake), and Quyen Tran (“The Pitt”).

The series will notably bring the Friday the 13th franchise back to life after 16 years of Jason Voorhees lying dormant at the bottom of the lake due to messy legal issues over the rights.

Brad Caleb Kane is the showrunner for “Crystal Lake.”
