An official website and X (formerly Twitter) account opened today revealed that a TV anime adaptation of Jinushi's acclaimed Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You age-gap rom-com manga is in production for a 2026 broadcast. Additional details about the project, such as animation staff and cast, were not confirmed at the time of reporting. Square Enix also publishes the series in English and describes the story: At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can't find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her.
