New Sugar Sugar Rune Anime in the Works at Studio Khara

The anime adaptation of Moyoco Anno’s Sugar Sugar Rune manga first kicked off its broadcast in 2005, and Evangelion production house Studio Khara is getting in on the 20th anniversary celebration. At Paris’s Japan Expo event, Khara announced plans to produce a new anime based on the series and released a new short. The short, titled Sugar Sugar Rune: Les deux sorcierès , has author Moyoco Anno supervising and is described as an original story that serves as a prequel. Yusuke Matsui described it as something that could only be achieved with CG animation, and Kohei Fujiwara added that he hopes everyone can see the new talent at Khara through this work.
