ZatsuTabi -That's Journey- Manga Donates Proceeds to Noto Peninsula Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund

Japanese publisher KADOKAWA announced on June 26 that a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the latest 13th volume of Kenta Ishizaka's ZatsuTabi -That's Journey manga series will be donated to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund. On January 1, 2024, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake impacted the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture. Disaster recovery efforts are still underway in the area. The ZatsuTabi -That's Journey- manga is serialized in the publisher's Dengeki Maoh magazine since March 2019. The manga's 13th volume, which is released in Japan today on June 27, includes a trip to the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture. At Ishizaka's suggestion, Kadokawa and the Dengeki Maoh editorial department have decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the volume to the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake disaster relief fund. The Dengeki Maoh editorial team and Ishizaka both commented on the donation. Comments from Dengeki Maoh editorial team: In "ZatsuTabi -That's Journey-," we depict the feelings and scenes that we have gained from actually visiting the places we visited as manga. This work can exist only with the warmth and hospitality of the people living there. The Noto region is a place we happened to visit by chance, and despite the difficult situation, Ishizaka-sensei was kindly received on his first visit to the region. We sincerely hope that this support will help the local people and lead to recovery, even if only a little. Comments from Kenat Ishizaka: On the night of my trip to Ishikawa Prefecture in December 2024, I overheard the real voices of local residents at an izakaya in Kanazawa, such as “We are going to demolish our house” and “I hope we can relax next year” from the conversation of the customers sitting next to me. I felt that there was nothing I could really do and that I was powerless. I strongly believe that it is because of the local people that I was able to enjoy delicious local food, drink delicious sake, and relax in the hot springs of Noto. We discussed with the editorial department the possibility of returning the favor and the opportunity we were able to illustrate such enjoyable thoughts and feelings, and we decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the 13th volume to Ishikawa Prefecture. We hope that our donation will help the people there, even if only a little. We will definitely go back to Noto again to eat delicious food, drink sake, and soak in the hot springs.
