‘The Giant Spider Invasion’ – New Scenes Being Added to 1975 Movie for 2026 Re-Release

“They came by the hundreds, by the thousands, killing and crippling… creeping, crawling creatures determined to destroy the Earth. Could anything stop them?” You might remember this line from the original trailer for The Giant Spider Invasion, a 1975 creature feature from director Bill Rebane that Mystery Science Theater 3000 gave new life to back in 1997.

Decades later, The Giant Spider Invasion is once again set to make a return next year with a brand new version of the movie featuring newly shot scenes, Green Bay Press Gazette reports.

The outlet details, “Bill Rebane and a group of writers, actors and filmmakers from Wisconsin hope to shine a spotlight anew on the movie. They plan to add scenes and characters into the original and fix some of the mistakes that have made Rebane cringe for decades.”

“These additions are designed to preserve the integrity and characters of the original while enhancing the story,” the team announced via press release. “The result is a hybrid release that respects the past while innovating for the future.” It’s expected sometime next year.

“Whenever I watched the movie over the last 50 years, I saw so many little flaws, cringing moments,” Rebane reveals. “Those are the things that I’m trying to take out right now.”

You can watch the original trailer for The Giant Spider Invasion below.

In the 1975 horror movie, “giant arachnids from outer space begin to invade Earth after a huge black hole appears in a farmer’s field outside a small town in Wisconsin. A NASA scientist deduces the invasion is the result of some sort of intergalactic gateway and devises a plan to stop the huge, hairy, creeping crawlers from devouring the local population.”
