The Laughing Salesman Live-Action TV Drama Casts Ryuji Akiyama in Lead Role

The Laughing Salesman , an upcoming live-action TV drama based on the dark comedy / psychological thriller manga by Fujiko Fujio A, revealed a new piece of key art, a short teaser trailer and the identity of the actor who will play the leading role. In the series, Ryuji Akiyama (of comedy trio Robert) plays Moguro Fukuzou , the titular laughing salesman. RELATED: The Laughing Salesman Manga Gets Live-Action TV Drama in July Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha published the original The Laughing Salesman manga by Fujiko Fujio A from 1969 – 1971 in their Manga Sunday publication. The series has previously been adapted into a TV anime in 1989 – 1992 and in 2017, a live action TV drama in 1999, and a stage-play in 2021. The new live-action TV drama features direction by Masaaki Ito, Youhei Osabe, Daisuke Yamamoto and Shota Sasaki and scripts by Kankuro Kudo, Maggy, Toru Hosokawa and Udai Iwasaki. It will stream in Japan on Amazon Prime Video beginning on July 18.
