Back in 2023, developer Morteshka released a demo for their upcoming Slavic folk horror game One-Eyed Likho (which is still available). Now the developer has announced a July 28 release date on Steam for the game, as well as dropped a new trailer to commemorate the announcement.
One-Eyed Likho is inspired by the Slavic tale of The One-Eyed Likho, which is an embodiment of evil fate and misfortune in Slavic mythology. A creature with one eye, the creature is often depicted as an old, skinny woman in black. The game takes players to a grim monochrome corner of 19th-century Russia. In this world, you’ll wander through dense forests and decaying cottages in search of Likho as you try to escape your cursed fate. And in a nod to Robert Eggers‘ The Lighthouse, One-Eyed Likho aims to further immerse players in the game with its 4:3 aspect ratio to “[add] depth to your adventure.”
With nothing but a few matches, you’ll navigate the shadows, using fire to solve puzzles, fend off the darkness, and to uncover the secrets in order to learn the whole truth. But time is running out, and the Likho drawing nearer.
