"Yusha" was based on a newly-written novel by Kanehito Yamada, the story writer of the original Frieren: Beyond Journey's End manga series, and expresses the somewhat lonely and melancholy atmosphere depicted in the work, as well as the changing emotions of the protagonist Frieren, evoking a new beginning for the story. The song was released digitally first from Sony Music Entertainment on September 29, 2023. According to Billboard Japan , the song reached 100 million streams in January 2024, which means the song has streamed 200 million times in the latest 17 months.
