Awajima Hyakkei Anime Takes the Stage With 2026 Premiere

After being announced this time last year, the TV anime adaptation of Takako Shimura’s Yuri manga series  Awajima Hyakkei  (One Hundred Views of Awajima) got its first teaser video and visual tonight, along with the reveal that the series will premiere in 2026 and the prominent staff members at MADHOUSE. Awajima Hyakkei Anime Teaser Trailer and Visual RELATED: Takako Shimura’s Yuri Manga Awajima Hyakkei Gets Anime Adaptation Morio Asaka ( Cardcaptor Sakura ) directs the Awajima Hyakkei anime adaptation at MADHOUSE with character designs from Kunihiko Hamada ( Chihayafuru ), series composition written by Yasuhiro Nakanishi ( Kaguya-sama: Love Is War ), art direction by Hideki Nakamura ( Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway ), compositing by Junko Sakai ( My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999 ) and music from Takahiro Obata ( SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary ). The series will premiere in 2026. Takako Shimura, who is also the creator of the  Sweet Blue Flowers  and  Wandering Son  manga series, launched  Awajima Hyakkei  on   Ohta Comics’ previous web manga platform  Poko Poko  in 2011 before moving to  Ohta Web Comics  in 2016. The series ended on the platform on March 15, 2024, with the fifth and final volume released on May 15 of the same year. Awajima Hyakkei  is set in the same world as  Sweet Blue Flowers  and follows the students of Awajima, a school based on the real-life Takarazuka Musical School, as they aim for the stage while navigating the drama and romance of being in an all-female theater troupe.
