Early last month, it was announced that the Aikatsu! anime would screen select episodes in June as a theatrical event. Today, we get all the details: a title, the episodes to be screened and a visual for the movie cut! The theatrical event is officially titled Aikatsu! Memorial Stage ~Shining Unit Cup~ and will cover the Unit Cup arc of season 3. In addition to the episodes themselves (episodes 35-37), the theatrical cut will include new interview segments where the idols comment on each other behind the scenes. TV Anime Episodes Gets Theatrical Screenings in June In addition to the Unit Cup arc, the theatrical event will include the episode "Aikatsu Restaurant" (season 3 episode 39): a show-within-a-show in which the idols try to get a failing restaurant back on its feet. Aikatsu! Memorial Stage ~Shining Unit Cup~ premieres in 43 theaters across Japan on June 20, with a limited three-week run scheduled. The idol-themed series launched in October 2012 and its first TV anime series Aikatsu! aired from October 2012 to March 2016. Then, it was followed by Aikatsu Stars! (April 2016 to March 2018), Aikatsu Friends! (April 2018 to September 2019), Aikatsu on Parade! (October 2019 to March 2020), and Aikatsu Planet! (January to June 2021).
