Japanese publisher TO BOOKS announced today that Kotoko's isekai romance fantasy light novel series I Was Reincarnated as the Heroine on the Verge of a Bad Ending, and I'm Determined to Fall in Love! will receive an anime adaptation. Details regarding when and how it will release will be announced at a later date. Kotoko's work is being adapted into an anime for the second time, following the previously announced The Final-Boss Prince Is Somehow Obsessed with the Chubby Villainess: Reincarnated Me . Kotoko has provided a story for the isekai romance fantasy manga illustrated by Kaname Hanamiya. Sake Kumanomi, who has provided illustrations for volumes three and beyond of the novel series, also posted a celebratory illustration on their official X (formerly Twitter) . Kotoko has been posting the original version of the I Was Reincarnated as the Heroine on the Verge of a Bad Ending, and I'm Determined to Fall in Love ! novel on the Japanese novel self-publishing website Shousetsuka ni Narou since April 2021. TO BOOKS started publishing the novel in January 2020 and the novel's manga adaptation illustrated by Ikuto Nanse in December 2022. The entire series (including digital editions) has already printed over 1.4 million copies. The novel's latest 10th volume and the manga's latest eighth will be available simultaneously on March 1. TOKYOPOP, which has released an English edition of the manga, describes the synopsis as such: A dating sim enthusiast wakes up in the body of Reine Waynewright: an adorable otome heroine in a fantasy game! Reine discovers that in this world, she's a lowly F-rank student at the magical Heartfelt Academy, bullied by her classmates and snubbed by her love interests for her lack of talent. Determined to avoid a Bad Ending, Reine resolves to study hard, practice her magic, and pass the exams to increase her rank! If she grinds hard enough, she may be able to change her fate: make new friends, improve herself, and maybe even fall in love along the way!
