The Nun icon Bonnie Aarons will star as Mrs. Ladadee alongside fellow genre favorites Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes), Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist), Elizabeth Caro (Little Bites), and Kelli Maroney (Night of the Comet).
The indie film follows children’s TV host Mrs. Ladadee, who, after finding out her beloved show is abruptly cancelled, poisons herself and her child guest stars on live television during the final episode in 1980. There is one survivor, who soon begins having visions of Mrs. Ladadee, luring him back to where he belongs.
Writer-director Jacob Arbittier makes his feature debut on the project, which he also produced via Burnt Mill Road.
“When I was a kid, there were popular children’s shows with older hosts who I always found a bit unsettling,” Arbittier recalls. “That feeling stuck with me — and materialized into a vision I had to get out.”
He continues, “Bonnie Aarons was a dream to work with. The visual of her grinning in a giant pink chair captures that incongruence I’m terrified of — when you inherently know there is something sinister beneath an artificial facade. Every member of this cast brought something unique, terrifying, and unforgettable to the film, and working with them has been an absolute privilege.”
Mrs. Ladadee recently wrapped production in Los Angeles.
