The space opera science-fiction anime Knights of Sidonia is staging a commemorative 10th anniversary live concert event on April 18 and 19, 2026, at the Dai-Ichi Seimei Hall venue in Tokyo. The event features Mayu Sakaki conducting the Japan Pops Orchesta (JPO), with voice actors Ryota Osaka, Aya Suzuki and Sayaka Ohara appearing as guests alongside musical unit angela. The event will debut a new version of the Knights of Sidonia theme song, arranged by Noriyuki Asakura and performed by angela with a live orchestra. A sample of the new arrangement is highlighted in the video below. Tsutomu Nihei serialized the original Knights of Sidonia manga in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon seinen manga magazine from April 2009 to September 2015, with 15 volumes published in Japan. Vertical published an English-language version of the series. The anime adaptation, directed by Kobun Shizuno and produced at Polygon Pictures, started its broadcast in 2014. The Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine TV anime followed in 2015 with Hiroyuki Seshita directing. The series also made its way to theaters in 2015’s Knights of Sidonia: The Movie compilation film and 2021’s Knights of Sidonia: Love Woven in the Stars . Crunchyroll currently streams the Knights of Sidonia TV anime, and describes the story: A thousand years after the alien Gauna destroyed the Earth, a small remnant of humanity still fights on to survive, fleeing on the gargantuan asteroid-based spaceship Sidonia.
