Clea DuVall (The Faculty) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Bumblebee) are joining the cast of HBO’s “The Last of Us” in Season 3.
Deadline reports that DuVall will play a seraphite, a member of the primitivist cult from the Naughty Dog video game. Lendeborg will portray Manny, replacing Danny Ramirez, who played the recurring role in Season 2 is unable to return due to scheduling conflicts.
“The Last of Us” was renewed for a third season ahead of its Season 2 premiere last April, but it’s expected to be the final chapter of the post-apocalyptic drama series.
“It certainly seems that [Season 3 will be the last], but on decisions like that, we will defer to the showrunners,” HBO CEO Casey Bloys recently told Deadline.
The Last of Us game co-creator Neil Druckmann stepped down as co-showrunner last year, leaving Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”) as the sole showrunner for Season 3.
Kaytlin Dever stars as Abby, from whose perspective the new season will be told, alongside Bella Ramsey as Ellie.
From HBO and Sony Pictures Television, “The Last of Us” is produced by PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
Executive producers include Druckmann, Mazin, Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Evan Wells, and Halley Gross.
