Ryo Nakama's High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku will receive a live-action film adaptation in the fall 2026 (or later). The film's official website and X (formerly Twitter) opened today with a teaser visual featuring the four main cast members— Jun Saito as Kotaro Ietani, Shingo Katori as Ichiro Ietani, Riisa Naka as Shizuka Ietani and Yuno Nagao as Haruka Ietani. Teaser visual In a video interview filmed on the first day of the shooting, Shingo Katori (a former member of male idol group SMAP) commented on his role: "My character, Ichiro, has been saying this line since this opening day: 'I've always yearned to be a high school student!' and 'But I only graduated middle school…' I'm a middle school graduate too. So I've always yearned to be a high school student, as well. 'I finally got this dream high school life!' That's why I really understand how Ichiro feels." The script is provided by Makoto Ueda, who heads the Japanese theater group Europe Kikaku. Nakama's original High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku manga was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from September 2020 to February 2023, then compiled into 11 collected volumes. "I'm thrilled that High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku is being made into a live-action film," said Nakama. "It's been over two years since the serialization ended, so this live-action adaptation is a chance to shine the spotlight on it once more. For fans who've been reading along, I hope this brings back all sorts of memories. And for those encountering High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku for the first time through the film, I also hope it becomes a wonderful opportunity to discover that such a laid-back and bizarre manga was actually running in Jump."
