Featured in our Most Anticipated Games of 2026 list, solo-developer Conner Rush and FYRE Games’ upcoming surreal psychological horror title Project Songbird will see a March 26 release date on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. Accompanying the announcement is a release date trailer for the cinematic, narratively-driven title.
Set deep beneath the isolating canopy of the Appalachian forest, Project Songbird explores the dark side of the creative process. Players will take on the role of Dakota, a struggling career musician who, while suffering from writer’s block, heads to a remote log cabin to record their new album. As they search amongst the pines for a spark of creativity, they soon discover something more lurks in the darkness – and that not all inspirations are positive.
Equally inspired by the narratively-driven titles such as Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch with hints of Silent Hill and Alan Wake, players will immerse themselves in a dark 4-5 hour narrative presented with a “cinematic, film-like aesthetic” as they traverse the numerous and diverse environments in Project Songbird.
Complimenting the visuals is the game’s visuals is the voice cast, featuring Valerie Rose Lohman (What Remains of Edith Finch, Wolfenstein: Youngblood), Jonah Scott (Dying Light 2: Stay Human), and Aleks Le (Persona 3: Reloaded, Ghost of Yotei). It’s all set to a “dynamic and haunting soundtrack” composed and performed by Auric Echoes members Jacob Noska and Jonah Henthorne.
