Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to Anime Film Announced With Teaser Trailer

Kaori Mado’s romance novel Kimi to Hanabi to Yakusoku to , set around the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival in Niigata, will be lighting up screens in Japan this summer with an anime film adaptation premiering on July 17. A website for the film was launched this morning, along with the release of a “super teaser trailer” and a “super teaser visual,” featuring the two lead voice actors and lead staff members. Kohei Mori wrote the screenplay, and Yuji Watanabe is adapting Akamoku’s original character designs for animation. Shin-Ei Animation is producing the film with distribution by Shochiku. The film is sponsored by Niigata Prefecture, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture Tourism Association. The film will be released in Japan on July 17. The story of Kaori Mado’s original novel centers on two Tokyo high schoolers who connect over a painting of fireworks. They trace the painting to the Nagaoka Fireworks Festival in Niigata, one of Japan's three major fireworks festivals, and to a mysterious promise that connects the two to the past.
