The production committee for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime announced today that the upcoming fourth film in the franchise, Puella Magi Madoka Magica -Walpurgisnacht Rising- , has been postponed due to “production reasons.” A new date will be announced next month. -Walpurgisnacht Rising- was initially set to be released in Winter 2024, which then moved to Winter 2025, also due to “production reasons.” It was later confirmed for February 2026. This delay takes it off the schedule. The production committee apologized, declaring that they “will continue to work passionately on our creations to deliver even better work.” All the staff from Rebellion return at SHAFT for the Walpurgisnacht Rising feature; with Akiyuki Shimbo as the chief director, Yukihiro Miyamoto directing the film, Nitroplus's Gen Urobuchi writing the script, aokiume designing the characters with Junichiro Taniguchi taking those designs and making them fit for animation. Yuki Kajiura is the composer on the film, and Gekidan Inu Curry returns to design the Witches' Spaces. The original cast is also set to reprise their roles from the third film and Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story spin-off series.
