Following the immense success of the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One , director, writer and VFX supervisor Takashi Yamazaki is back at it for the followup, Godzilla Minus Zero . The next Godzilla film now from Toho has a North American theatrical premiere date that lands it in cinemas in English just three days after it opens in Japan. GKIDS once again handles distribution for Godzilla Minus Zero , which opens in North America on November 6, 2026. The film opens in Japan on November 3, making this a near-simultaneous release and lining it up with the premiere of the previous film in 2023 and Ishiro Honda’s original Godzilla film that started it all in 1954. Additional international release dates will be announced at a later time. Godzilla Minus One was initially released in Japan on November 3, 2023, eventually grossing, according to The Japan Times , US$116 million around the world, with 7.65 billion yen of that coming from Japan, making it the 93rd highest-grossing film of all time in the country. Minus One also has the honor of being the first non-English language film to win Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards and Best Picture at the 47th Japan Academy Film Prize.
