2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Ashi Productions, the studio behind the beloved magical girl anime Fairy Princess Minky Momo . In line with the big date, the studio has announced that a brand-new Minky Momo OVA is on the way — the first new project for the title in 31 years. Season 2 Anime Teaser Trailer Announces July 2026 Premiere Sharp-eyed fans will note that the character pictured above is the heroine of the first season (nicknamed "Sky Momo" by fans). Both seasons of Fairy Princess Minky Momo featured a magical girl named Momo, both of whom looked very similar and had a mission to protect humanity's dreams. However, the two were notably different characters with different personalities and voices, with season 2's "Sea Momo" carrying on Sky Momo's mission and even crossing paths with her predecessor on occasion. The series has inspired five OVAs over the years, with the most recent — Minky Momo in the Station of Your Memories — premiering in 1994. Further details, including cast, crew and story, will be announced at a later date. The first season of Fairy Princess Minky Momo premiered in 1982, starring Mami Koyama as the title magical girl. A second series aired in 1992, starring Megumi Hayashibara as a new Momo with similar powers.
