Keiko Shibata's popular children's picture book series Pan Dorobo (“The Bread Thief”) announced today that the series is being adapted into a TV anime that will broadcast on NHK E TV beginning in October 2026. A teaser trailer and teaser art as well as an official website and social media feed have been published for the series. Pan Dorobo teaser art RELATED: Illustrator Juno's mofusand Cats Inspire Short Anime Kadokawa publishes the original Pan Dorobo books in Japan, with 7 books in the series to date and over 5 million copies in circulation. Takahiko Kyogoku directs the TV anime at Shin-Ei Animation, with assistant direction by Chie Yamashiro, character designs by Mako Miyako and series composition by Mariko Mochizuki. The story of the series follows the misadventures of the mysterious but lovable “Bread Thief”, a master thief constantly searching for delicious bread to plunder.
