With the end of the second cour of the Gachiakuta anime upon us, it’s time to look ahead to the future of the adaptation. While details are light at the moment, the staff officially confirmed that Gachiakuta season 2 is in the works. Expect more information, including timing, as it’s revealed in the future. In the meantime, there’s more on the way for the series, including a stage play adaptation in 2026 and an action-RPG video game. It’s currently in active development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam). Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou have serialized the Gachiakuta manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine since February 2022, with 17 volumes released in Japan to date. Kodansha USA also publishes an English-language version of the series. Fumihiko Suganuma directs the first season of the TV anime at animation studio bones film, with series composition by Hiroshi Seko, character designs and chief animation direction by Satoshi Ishino and music by Taku Iwasaki. Crunchyroll streams Gachiakuta and describes the story: In a floating city where the rich discard their waste—and people—Rudo is framed for murder and thrown into the Pit, where a hellscape of mutated trash beasts dwell.
