A few weeks back, Resident Evil Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa mentioned that fans would be seeing characters from the series’ past making an appearance in the new game. And thanks to GameStop, we may now know who one of them will be.
As always, if you don’t want spoilers, you’ll want to skip this next part.
While the listing has now been scrubbed, the original listing on GameStop’s website for Resident Evil Requiem‘s Deluxe Steelbook Edition on PC revealed new information on just what’s included. As part of the Deluxe Edition, players would be getting the Expansion Pass, which includes “2 new story scenarios and a major Mercenaries mode update.” In addition, three of the five costumes players would be getting in the Deluxe Edition are part of the “Shadow Walker” costume pack, which has “exclusive outfits for Rosemary Winters.” Just in case you missed it, Rose is the daughter of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village‘s protagonist, Ethan Winters.
The listing also stated that the Deluxe Edition comes with the “Morphic Visor,” which is “a unique cosmetic look for Rose’s visor,” along with a Digital Artbook and soundtrack.
However, before everyone gets up in arms, noted Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem waded into this situation, saying that they have their doubts about this apparent accidental leak. Taking the “grain of salt” approach, Dusk Golem mentions that the original listing makes mention of the Baker estate, which had not been mentioned at all by anyone at Capcom. “I also had never noticed the GameStop synopsis for the game says RE9 is ‘picking up threads left dangling in the shadows of Raccoon City and the Baker estate,’” they say.
Other X users have stated that the original listing appeared to have been AI-generated before someone cleaned it up, throwing even more doubts on what’s really going on. It should also be noted that nowhere in the original listing for the Deluxe Edition that a Digital Artbook and soundtrack would be included.
Lastly, Capcom has said nary a word about this, so until someone says something official, it’s best to take Dusk Golem’s advice.
Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27 for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
