Apart from treating fans to lore updates over on Steam, Good Fun Corporation has been busy toiling away on their PvPvE FPS HUNGER since it was announced last year. They did have time to release a new 12-minute gameplay trailer for the horror extraction shooter. The footage comes from a pre-alpha build of the game, taking place on an Expedition in an area known as Sombre Forest.
For those that need a refresher, HUNGER takes place in Napoleonic Europe in the aftermath of the Bacterium plague. As a survivor among the Living, you will embark on a solo journey, or unite with allies in pairs or trios, navigating the landscape haunted by monstrous beings spawned from the plague’s wrath, known as the Hunger.
HUNGER is described as a deep, first-person RPG at its core, where your story unfolds through the high-stakes loop of a multiplayer extraction shooter. Players will progress to level 100 by completing quests, surviving Expeditions, and mastering the game’s skill system that evolves with your choices. Completing quests and building your reputation will grant you access to new locations, abilities, characters, weapons, gear, and resources.
Players can also choose a unique crafting or gathering profession, allowing them to create valuable items – whether for personal use, to aid their friends, or to sell within the player-driven marketplace. The mechanic aims to add a layer of economic and strategic depth, rewarding specialization and community interdependence.
The game features no wipe mechanics typical of the extraction shooter genre, ensuring your progress and story persist. You’ll be able to customize your character’s appearance with cosmetics found as in-game loot, trade in the marketplace, and connect, quest, and transact with others in the game’s social hub known as the Chateau.
In addition to Steam, HUNGER will also be coming to the Epic Games Store.
