3. Blue Ruin (2013)
A revenge thriller that follows a drifter who returns to his hometown to confront his past, leading to a brutal and chaotic journey. You will really enjoy this while you are watching it. You will forget about it once you are done. But enjoyable flick, and god damnit isn’t that the fucking point?
4. The Night of the Hunter (1955)

5. Running Scared (2006)
A wild and unpredictable crime thriller following a low-level mobster trying to recover a missing gun before it falls into the wrong hands.
OK THIS MOVIE IS SO COOL. First off, you see Vera Farmiga get her meow-meow eaten by Paul Bunyan here on top of a washing machine. Damn if this isn’t the only fucking memorable thing from this FILM. Other than maybe Paul Walker getting blasted in the face by a hockey puck. Foreshadowing.
6. Coherence (2013)
A mind-bending thriller where a group of friends experiences strange, reality-warping events after a comet passes overhead. Nicholas fucking Brendon cooks in this movie, and it has a really cool premise. You should definitely watch it. Again, it’s not going to be like on your mind every day for the rest of your life, but it’s a really good movie that you will enjoy for the time you watch it — so a fantastic movie.
7. Lake Mungo (2008)
A documentary-style psychological thriller that follows a grieving family uncovering disturbing secrets about their deceased daughter. This was really good, especially at a time when this kind of movie has been done 500 fucking times. Worth it.
8. The Lodge 2019
STUPID crazy, slow-burn, what the fuck is going on horror film. Really really weird, but solid thriller.
9. The Empty Man (2020)
Cop investigates disappearances tied to an urban legend and cult. Underseen, very indie vibe.
